Kuma celebrates Pocky Day

The 11th of November is Pocky Day (Pocky and Pretz Day). The Ezaki Glico product Pocky is a long biscuit stick and represents the repeated number 1 in the numerical date (the 11th day of the 11th month). Ezaki Glico has depolyed an advertising campaign surrounding the date each year since 1999. Pocky Day has been certified as a memorial day by the Japan Anniversary Association.

Our family as well took the opportunity of getting and eating Pocky on Pocky Day. I had Pocky for the first time in a while. Pocky is orthodox and has a kind of kingship though many similar chocolate biscuit sticks such as Toppo. The orthodox taste when I was a bear cub has not changed. Furthermore there are many variations such as extra thin Pocky but I like the orthodox Pocky with the traditional red package.

Pocky is loved by many countries around the world. In Europe Pocky is sold under the name Mikado. This name of European Pocky derives from a table game with thin sticks (the highest scoring stick of the game is called Mikado, namely, the Emperor of Japan) originating in Europe.

And yet the 11th of November is also celebrated by other various events such as Good Encounter Day, Socks Day, Noodle Day. People of advertising agencies think out various techniques.
